KTM 790 Duke vs Ducati Monster 797 vs Triumph Street Triple S vs Kawasaki Z900 – Specification Comparison

The Austrian motorcycle making company took the world by storm last year when it announced the new 790 Duke. And the good news is that the company is also planning to launch this new orange street monster in the Indian market by late 2019, or early 2020. KTM will only announce the 790 Duke price in India only after its launch which is expected in coming few years. Today we compare it against its rivals such as Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple S, and Ducati 797.

Engine and Specification Comparison –

The most underpowered bike in this comparison is the Ducati 797 which makes close to 46bhp less than the most powerful bike in its competition, the Kawasaki Z900. On the papers, the Ducati 797 generates about 75bhp of raw L-Twin power at 8250 rpm from its 803 cc air cooled Desmodue twin-cylinder engine, which also makes close to 67 Nm of peak torque at 5,750 rpm. Coming on to Kawasaki Z900, it is the most ferociously powered beast in this comparison as it develops close to 123 bhp of maximum power 9,500 rpm from its 948cc 4-stroke In-Line Four, liquid-cooled engine that also makes 98 Nm of peak torque at 7700 rpm. The British bike, Street Triple S is powered with the newly updated engine which is a 765cc In-Line Three, liquid-cooled engine that makes close to 110bhp at 11,250 rpm and 73 Nm peak torque comes at 10,421 rpm. Last but not the least, the KTM is powered with a newly developed parallel-twin engine which is brand new for 2018. The engine is a 799 cc 2-cylinder, 4-stroke, parallel twin, which makes close to 103bhp of power and 86Nm of peak torque.

Features and electronics –

Starting off with the Italian beauty, Ducati Monster 797 packs a number of features such as LCD screen, under-seat USB charging port, Ducati Multimedia System, Ducati Traction Control, and  Bosch twin-channel ABS. While the Kawasaki only features new full digital instrument panel and ABS in the name of features and electronics. The Triumph comes with ABS and switchable traction control, Road and Rain riding modes, and an LCD instrument panel. But the bike that clearly wins in this argument and is way ahead of everything else in the competition is the KTM 790 Duke that has futuristic electronics such as riding modes, track modes, traction control, quick shifter, supermoto mode, motorcycle stability control with cornering ABS, launch control, and slipper clutch with assist. It also offers an optional KTM my ride control unit.

Price comparison –

The Kawasaki Z900 is priced at Rs 7.68 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), the Triumph Street Triple S is priced at Rs 8.50 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi), and the Ducati Montser 797 will cost you close to Rs 8.10 Lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).

The KTM Duke 790 price in India has not been announced yet, but we expect the same to cost around Rs 6 lakh when launched in the Indian market.
