Back at the Autoexpo this year, the French automaker revealed not one quite a few versions of its entry-level hatchback, Kwid. After some months, Kwid 1-litre was launched which received a fabulous response from the Indian crowd. Now Renault India has teased Kwid AMT ahead of its launch. The teaser put up by the company on official Indian website says ‘Get ready to change the way you drive.’
Instead of a conventional gear shifter, the car will have a dial to control the gear shifts. The car has been badged as Renault Kwid Easy-R AMT, and will come along an easy to operate, 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission technology. The car will run on three modes including Reverse, Neutral, and Drive.
The car is expected to get the Easy-R AMT with the 1.0-litre option only. The engine in talks is the 999cc SCe engine that delivers 67 bhp of power at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 91Nm at 4,250rpm. As claimed, the car returns an average fuel economy of 23.01 Kmpl.
The top end in the Kwid series, the Kwid RXT 1.0 (O) retails at a price of Rs 3,95,776, expect the AMT version to be Rs 40,000 in excess of the same.
